The Globe Theatre was where many of Shakespeare's plays were performed. It was built by a carpenter, Peter Street. The Globe had tiered seating, similar to seating that we have today. The Globe had the stage surrounded by the seating (Image in the thumbnail, blue is stage, ring is seating). Today we have the tiered seating but it doesn't surround the stage, the stage faces all the seats.
